Kitten Quarters

One of my bedrooms has been turned over to the kittens. I have a special birthing area in this room for the moms to deliver babies where they will stay with their mom for three weeks or so and then will venture out into the rest of the room to frolic and play. Two big windows with perches for them to look out and lots and lots and lots of toys and places to play hide and seek. Such fun for them and me.

Parents' Quarters

Having moved from Virginia back to my home state of Maine in the fall of 2005, I incurred some major renovations to make my home “pet friendly”. In order to properly, with adequate space, accommodate my breeding and show guys, I decided to say to heck with the two-car garage for cars, and I turned it into my "pet quarters". After much sterilizing, painting, insulating and decorating, the pets moved in and seem to just love it. Of course, I had to keep the breeding males, Sonny and Simba, away from the breeding females, so I put up a 6'x10'x6' chain linked encloser for them. And wouldn’t you know, they have visitors all the time. Elton John, John Travolta, Britney Spears and Crystal Gayle (a few of my altered group of show cats) are always meowing at me to open their door so they can romp with their buddies. This summer I am going to install an enclosed outdoor area for them which will be attached to the sunny side of the garage. And then we will be all set.

The Rest of the House

Of course, there are always a few cats in the house. My computer room has a huge cat tree right in front of two windows so this is a favorite resting place. But you have to know the couches and padded chairs is another place for hair to collect. I am not sure that I would feel secure if I did not have a cat in my lap. I also have two dogs, a Lhasa (Chirpa) and a Blue Merle Sheltie (Kate), as part of the menagerie. I am not sure if the dogs think they are cats or if the cats think they are dogs. But it really doesn’t matter.

I welcome the opportunity to chat further with you either by e-mail, phone or “snail” mail and encourage you to visit my cattery and have fun playing with my feline family. You can also romp with the dogs and then there are three Cashmere goats (Fetacinni, Penne and Farfalle) housed in a barn in the back yard.
